Blog EntryGIRLS' DAY OUT!Dec 30, '07 10:13 AM
for everyone

Hello dear friends! Hope you‘re having wonderful weekend! As for me and the girls, it’s been a quiet one. The passed week had been quite hectic though…

Last Monday I took the girls to see movie The Golden Compass and after that to an exhibition of The Lost City. The movie was great and I would say it is more intense compared to Stardust and Narnia Chronicles and even Harry Potter! The movie is based on The Northern Lights, the first of Philip Pullman's trilogy of highly acclaimed novels collectively known as His Dark Materials. The US imprint of the book is called The Golden Compass, hence the movie's title. If you're into fantasy movies, like I am,  this is really one great movie!

However, we somehow find Dakota Blue Richards as the main character, Lyra, not very convincing. She’s a bit odd but maybe that's how they intended to portray her as, odd. And quite surprisingly even Nicole Kidman is odd! I’ve been looking forward to see the movie because of her. Not her character or acting that is odd. It’s her eyes. Yes, her eyes! They’re very obviously reddish. You know, how the eyes are when we just got up from sleep. Her eyes are reddish through out the movie. To me it’s odd because she always look beautiful. Always like to watch her. But in the movie…. I can only say perhaps she’s not well?

After the movie we went to see The Lost City exhibition, since it was held at the same shopping mall. When we entered, first they showed us a short documentary film on the ancient Lost Cities. Then they ushered us to see the some exhibits.

Here Buttercup posing at the beautiful entrance.

And here Bubbles bravely touching a mummy! Well, I don't think she really knows what a mummy is! I on the other hand, had to be coaxed by the staff to touch it! Eiiik!!

Then when we thought that was all, they ushered us to ‘The Adventure’, they said, briefed us of a contest to count how many gold that we can find inside and gave us a 3D spectacles to wear and off we went. Only when we’re inside did I realized it is actually a Haunted House of some sort!!! We’re not allowed to take photos inside there, so you just have to try and imagine this! Me walking with the 3D spec on, I have to carefully feel the ground with my feet, afraid I might fall down because it feel like the ground is moving! The two girls, the moment we’re inside, on hearing the scary haunted music, almost crying, cling on me!! So I have to hold Bubbles infront of me and putting my arms around her & Buttercup by my side never letting go of my arms too! After a long torturing walk in the dark with scary coloured lights, a few turns, a shaking bridge, we reached a corner where I noticed a dark figure dressed as the Death Messager & holding that thing that he always carry. I managed not to let Bubbles see him and was so relieved Buttercup walked passed, so busy clinging on me, and didn’t notice him too. But right infront of him is a dead end & we’re so anxious to go out by that time! And that was the moment Bubbles turned and saw him moved!!!! And she screamed and screamed and joined by Buttercup who simply screamed because her sister screamed! Buttercup never did see the figure and she only found out why her sister screamed when I told her later and said she screamed simply because Bubbles screamed!! Geez!!! So when they screamed, I looked around to see what was making them scream, to calm them down. Then I see the dark figure was holding out the curtain & his finger was pointing the way out!!! I wanted to laugh because I can imagine he must have had a shock with the girls’ screams and at the same time tried to show the way!! So imagine again I have to drag the screaming Bubbles & Buttercup to walk passed him!!!

Just before we reached the exit door I saw the pile of gold that we’re supposed to count! But how can I stop with Bubbles at that point crying loudly already! It took awhile before she finally stopped crying when we're outside. When Buttercup & me teasingly asked if she wants to go there again, she immediately whimper, “Noooooo!”. All the way home, Buttercup & me keep laughing remembering the horrible turned funny venture! And Bubbles finally laughed when we arrived home & asked can we go again?

So there goes another glimpse of my little world!

Take care & Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
