Blog EntryPicture Perfect: FRAGILE!Apr 17, '08 10:38 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday! The theme for Picture Perfect this week is FRAGILE!!

So as usual, straight I go & dig my piles of pictures .... Hmm... what does FRAGILE means to me? Fragile glass? Fragile porcelain? Fragile flowers? Suddenly I saw the picture of my late father.... I was dumbfounded!
LIFE IS FRAGILE....

© Photo: Ruzie. All rights reserved.
(Taken handheld with my Olympus Camedia FE-5500)

Naaahh!! My dear late father was not here... Sorry, but if I were to share him here... I won't be able to finish this posting!!

Sharing here is a picture of a Brahminy Kite eagle whose natural habitat is in Asia. Taken at Sunway Wild Life Interactive Zoo in September 2007.

It's very frightening when I think of the possibilities that the future generations might not be able to see this beautiful creature nor the beautiful lush of green with all the pollution and destruction threatening them....

Very often we take life for granted... Only when it's lost, only when it's too late, do we realized how FRAGILE life is... Be it the people we care for, be it the almost extinct animals and be it the wondrous nature......
LIFE IS SO FRAGILE....

So there goes my take for FRAGILE.... Hope you like it!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: HOBBY!Apr 10, '08 8:17 PM
for everyone

Hello dearest friends! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thursday!! Yeap, it’s time for Picture Perfect… and the theme this week is HOBBY!!

Now, here comes the routine…..

~ The theme! Yeap, I know the meaning of HOBBY pretty well, so skip trying to understand the meaning of the word! But being a Gemini, I have lots of hobbies!!

~ Dig for a picture! As the norm for me, I prefer to dig through my old pictures for each theme instead of making new ones.

So dig, dig, dig! Look, look, look! Uh? I don’t have any HOBBY picture!! So can’t participate this week!! (Well, this is what I always say to myself each week! )

~ So, second round of dig, dig, dig and look, look, look!

~ Heyyy!! I was already looking at my HOBBY!! Building fond memories with my girls; Doing as many things together and going to as many places together!! My wish and my reasons being when I’m no longer around, I want my children to be able to say; Heyyy, I’ve done this, and I’ve done that, with my Mum when she was around….. I’ve been here, and I’ve been there with my Mum, when she was around….

Most of my pictures are about capturing every fun moment that I had with my two girls, Buttercup and Bubbles. My Blossom, the oldest, is already away at boarding school by the time I got my digital camera. Thus my memories with her are mostly in pictures from the film camera.

And just in case anybody’s wondering where the father is….. He’s busy working somewhere trying to make sure that his wife and children are able to build those fond memories!! They don’t come free, ya’ know!!

Sharing here is one of my girls’ moment of joy! Watching, touching and grabbing The Baby Looney Tunes!!!

So, there goes another glimpse of the joy of my life....
Hope you like my HOBBY!!

Hello dear friends! Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday! I know, I know... I'm late for my Picture Perfect.... Please excuse me, but everything seems to be moving in a slow motion for me this week, for reasons yet to be determined...

After a long and slow process of contemplating, this is the picture I chose to share this week for the theme FRAMED. This is an example of a beautifully framed 'wedding dais' where the bride and groom will seat to honour them as "Royals For The Day" in a Malay traditional wedding.

If you're interested in more details on our wedding dais, Click Here!

So there goes another glimpse on part of my world here....
Hope you enjoy it! And I would like to apologize in advance, if I didn't get to visit some of the PP takes this week, as I've mentioned earlier, I'm a bit of a slow mo at the moment....

Hello, dear friends! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday! Here comes my Picture Perfect again, this week with the theme ILLUMINATION! And this time I'm gonna approach the theme directly as it is....

I had previously shared a picture taken during the same Lantern Carnival for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in July, 2006. I hope you enjoy this display of flowers in the pond too. This was actually my first attempt at capturing night scenes. The carnival is a yearly occasion, however, unfortunately for me, it's done at different state every year....

So, there goes another glimpse of my little world....
Hope you like my display of illumination....

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: GOBSMACKED!Mar 20, '08 8:15 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends! Hope you have a wonderful Thursday! Mine is almost done and it has been wonderful because it's a public holiday to celebrate the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad!

The theme for this week Picture Perfect is GODSMACKED!

The meaning of the word as taken from Dictionary.com is flabbergasted, astounded, shocked. Hmm... is that supposed to be a bad reaction or does it include a good surprise too? Well, this is how I understand it, sorry if it's not correct....

So I've been GOBSMACKED twice today! First, when I realized that today is also my 1st year Anniversary as an amateur blogger. And second when I saw this week theme! GOBSMACKED? GOBSMACKED..?

The picture I'm sharing here is the birthday cake of my Mum's birthday when we gave her a grand party to celebrate her 70th birthday on 07-07-07! Not only was her cake in her favourite colour purple that day, but also her dress, the tent, the tablecloth, the plates, the cups and the serviettes!
So are you GOBSMACKED?

So there goes another glimpse of my little world....
Hope you enjoyed it!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: EMPTY!Mar 14, '08 10:54 PM
for everyone
Hello dear friends! As you can see, I'm home!!! We had a great trip but I'm so glad to be home as there's no place like home....

We arrived yesterday evening but after everybody went to sleep, exhausted, and as much as I wish to get online straight away, I didn't dare to because I know I'll have problem sleeping after that, with all the excitement! But then before going to bed, I still managed to watch my favourite MotoGP at midnight. It was the first race for the new season 2008 at Qatar and the first time it's done at night! That must be very exciting! It seems defending champion Australian Casey Stoner is still leading, leaving poor Italian Valentino Rossi at fifth place.... Opps! Sorry for babbling on about MotoGP... can't help it!

It's almost the deadline time set for Picture Perfect of this week with the theme EMPTY, so I think before I post the details of our holiday, I better do this first.

Sharing here is a photo taken around 8.00am two weeks ago at my favourite City Park near my Mum's house, when I took the girls jogging. It was still quite dark as it's been raining the day before. Well, it's been raining almost every afternoon for weeks now... I guess it's very obvious I'm showing those empty benches. The whole park was full with people actually. Somehow I managed to capture these empty benches amongst the busy activities going on around it.... Now looking at this picture it gives me the feeling of emptiness too. It makes me feel lonely somehow..... and that is a very rare feeling for me at present.....

So, there goes another glimpse of my little world....
Hope you can see or feel the emptiness that I'm showing....

p/s I've been gone for the whole week, so will take some time to catch up with all friends' blogs... Hope all of you will bear with me!
Thank you!

for everyone
Hello dear friends! It's time for Picture Perfect and I'm so happpppppyy! Heehee! Most of you know that I'm going off for the school holiday this Saturday, so initially I was a bit disappointed because I thought I won't be able to participate in this week PP and I'll be missing my friends so much.... But my dear MacGyver had just announced that he has to work till Sunday, so we can only leave on Monday!! Yippee!! Yeah, yeah, now you know I'm not too keen to go back to his hometown....

This is the picture I'm sharing for this week theme of MOVEMENT....
I took this picture in 2005 during a cultural show from Terengganu i.e. one of the states in the east coast of Malaysia. They were performing a  beautiful traditional dance from Terengganu. It's not a great shot as it's just a flimsy trial of an excited amateur photographer who just got her first digital camera ever....
But don't you wish you could see the movement.....?

So, there goes another glimpse of my little world....

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: INFINITE!Feb 28, '08 8:37 PM
for everyone
Hello dear friends and Happy Leap Day!!! Yeap, it's Friday 29 February 2008 here! I plan to do something special today but it's schooling day and dear hubby is working..... And tonight we’ll be stuck in front of the tv, watching our favourite reality singing competition final, “One In A Million”. It’s down to three fantastic girls now! Sigh… I guess it’ll just be like any other normal day….. But never mind, I still have my Picture Perfect!

The theme for this week is INFINITE, provided by a special host Cherie. This is a difficult theme for me actually. When you say infinite, I can only picture the sea, the sky and the pictures of infinite love. I know I don't have great pictures of the sea and the sky and my pictures of infinite love are just too private! Heehee! Sorry guys... I'm still a bit shy... even on the net!

@SunwayLagoon210707 004
© Photo: Ruzie. All rights reserved.

So instead I decided to submit this picture I took in July last year. This is a picture of Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, a place of infinite  joy! Sunway Lagoon Theme Park stands as Malaysia's premier theme park. It is separated into three themed lands; Theme Park, Extreme Park and Wildlife Park.

@SunwayLagoon210707 005

(Taken with my Olympus Camedia FE-5500, handheld & as with all my old pictures, these has been retouched)

And sorry, but I just have to post this picture too because you see, the top picture doesn't show the back portion of the supposedly volcanoes. Can you see there’s a hanging bridge crossing in the centre? I’ve got one end in, and even with two pictures I still didn’t manage to cover till the other end… The place is so huge (well, to me and my girls anyway)! You can just imagine when my girls get here….
There will be no end…..

So there goes another glimpse of my little world...
Hope you enjoy it!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: SHADOWFeb 21, '08 9:13 PM
for everyone

Hello dear friends! Hope you have a wonderful Friday! Yeap, it’s Friday here and as usual, here comes my Picture Perfect!

The theme this week, hosted by Tint is:

'SHADOW'

Explore the many forms and meanings of this word!

  Dictionary.com:
  1. a dark figure or image cast on the ground or some surface by a body intercepting light.
  2. shade or comparative darkness, as in an area.
  3. shadows, darkness, esp. that coming after sunset.
  4. shelter; protection: sanctuary in the shadow of the church.
  5.
(in painting, drawing, graphics, etc.)
      a. the representation of the absence of light on a form.
      b. the dark part of a picture, esp. as representing the absence of illumination:
Rembrandt's figures often emerge gradually from the shadows.
  6.
an inseparable companion: The dog was his shadow.

  Wikipedia:
Coloured Shadow: If white light is produced by separate coloured light sources, the shadows are coloured.

(Taken with my Olympus Camedia FE-5500, handheld & unretouched. )

I believe I've covered all of the above meanings of shadow with this picture that I'm sharing, taken in July, 2006 during the Lantern Carnival for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. You can see half of my two girls' faces, as with most of the visitors there, were in the shadow of the evening. You can also see there's a green coloured shadow cast by the lighting from another display on the left. And another thing that you don't know, was how my little Bubbles became the 'shadow' of her big sister when we finally reached this dragon's head! She was happy when we're walking along the dragon's body which was about half a mile-long and made of porcelain plates, bowls, cups and saucers. But she was so scared when we finally met the dragon's head! See how Buttercup had to hold her tight!

You can read the details about the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in my old blog HERE.

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: REDFeb 15, '08 3:02 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day with the people you love. Even if you are far apart from your loved ones, or who have yet to find your loved ones, or somehow without a loved one on this day, don't be so sad and remember, there’s always, always someone out there who cares for you and love can always be honoured on any day…

It's a hot Friday afternoon now and I’m running late for my Picture Perfect! The theme RED for this week is very difficult for me. I’ve just realized I don’t have many RED in my pictures!! Hmm… wonder why is that so?
Apart from pictures of red flowers (which are very few too), this is the only RED I can find.

 @Laman 2006150
© Photo: Ruzie. All rights reserved.
(Taken with my Olympus Camedia FE-5500, unretouched & handheld)

This picture I’m sharing is not so great because it was a bit difficult to get a good shot. The place was a bit crowded with visitors and this is the only one I managed to take without anybody else seen, except the mannequins of course! Heehee!

I took the picture of this red dress in July, 2006 at Laman Batik Datin Seri Endon, Kuala Lumpur Lake Garden which is a tribute for Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, the late wife of our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who died of breast cancer on October 20, 2005. Despite her illness, Datin Seri Endon had begun a vigorous campaign, “Malaysia Batik - Crafted For The World” which inspired the industry to go beyond the ordinary into the high end of fashion. This red dress is one of her great batik creations.

You can also see on the right side of the mannequins, a poster of the late Datin Seri Endon holding the red orchid called Mokara Datin Seri Endon.  Mokara Datin Seri Endon was specially bred by the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) and presented to her in May, 2005. Being a highly creative and artistic personality that she was, the orchid inspired her to transfer its distinctive colour and features into a stunning batik collection.

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: WATER!Feb 7, '08 11:14 AM
for everyone

Hello dear friends! It’s Friday here and time for my Picture Perfect!! The theme this week is WATER and it is definitely appropriate for this week as we seem to hear a lot about it on the global news nowadays. It’s either too much water or not enough. My heart goes to friends that have been affected by the floods and friends who have been on dry land and deprived of water for far too long now. Either way, it must have been very hard for them and they will always be in my thoughts and prayers…

It’s really difficult for me to choose a picture this week. Being in the equatorial line, our weather is warm throughout the year, except when it’s monsoon time and it’ll be raining most of days. So if we get to choose, we’d love to be in the water all the time! There are pictures at the swimming pools, at the water theme park, at waterfall, at the ponds, at the lakes, at the seaside and so on…

Finally I chose to share this with you and I hope it will bring joy to your heart, as it did mine everytime I look at it. The clear water in this pond is full with colourful koi fish and it is actually inside one of our shopping malls. My Buttercup felt so excited when all the fish came up to her when she started feeding them. She was so surprised that those fish did not hesitate to come so close to her. She was shrieking with joy and was so tempted to touch the fish! See she’s already pointing her fingers …

@Rainforest,1Utama 018

Oh! Alright! I guess it’s just fair to show this picture where she’s already trying to touch the fish! Heehee! It’s almost the same, so we can consider it as one, yes?

 @Rainforest,1Utama 019

So there goes another glimpse of my little world… Hope you enjoy it!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: HOUSE AND HOMEJan 31, '08 11:12 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends! It's Friday and that would be time for my Picture Perfect with "HOUSE AND HOME" as this week theme and we're asked to take a fresh look at our immediate surrounding! So here it is! This is our house and home. Well, actually, the top of our house. And oblivious of his surroundings, is none other than my significant other!

@home 013
© Photo: RRuzie. All rights reserved.
(as with all my old pictures, this has been retouched & enhanced.
Taken with my Olympus Camedia FE-5500 without tripod)

Yeap, I've never actually took a real look at the top of our house until the day this photo was taken in February 2006. A few hours earlier a slight twister hit our area and blew off a row of houses' roof tiles. Oooh! Just
reminiscing that moment gives me the shiver... It was past 2 in the afternoon and I was sitting by the window when it started to rain slightly. Then the wind started to blow a bit harder. And suddenly I heard a whistling sound. Now who in the world could whistle so hard in the rain, I thought. But it became harder by the seconds and I was getting spook. My little Bubbles who was standing nearby, heard the sound too and look at me in puzzle. Not wanting to scare her, I just smiled and said nothing. But it was at that moment suddenly we heard a loud cracking sound on our roof and sounded like it's moving from the front of the house to the end and even passed our house. By this time Bubbles and me, while hugging each other, had ran to the end of the house, not really sure where to go....
(and somehow Buttercup who was in her room listening to the radio was oblivious of what had took place!). Now bear in mind that all this happened in just a few seconds...

Only when my husband came home about an hour later did we dare to emerge from the house and together with the neighbours, surveyed what damaged had been done…. The little freak twister travelled through the whole neighbourhood where a lot of big trees fell everywhere on the road and houses roof tiles were blown away. Then, while most of my neighbours had to wait for hired contractors to come and repair their roof, my dear hubby had climbed up there and did the repairs himself… And when I looked up to snap this photo I noticed even the sky looked so fierce…. This really does made me take a fresh look at our home, how blessed we've been... when there were so many out there who had not been so lucky, lost their homes when hit by the wrath of nature, so much worst than what we had just experienced.....

So there goes another glimpse of my little world.... Hope you like my interpretation!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: HOW DO I LIVE...Jan 10, '08 10:21 PM
for everyone

Hello dear friends! It's Friday morning & time for my Picture Perfect! The theme this week is a bit unusual (well, for me at least!), 'A Song Title'. Hmm... this is very wide actually. It can be just anything. But to me a song normally reveals feeling.  And of course I've a lot of photos of joy. In moments of despair, I don't think I would remember to capture the moments  I know I won't cherish....

Now there's two versions of story behind the photo I'm sharing this week. First, I thought it's so appropriate for this Song Title "HOW DO I LIVE". Crushed my heart when listen to the song & looking at my dear Bubbles crying her heart out....

SHebohBJalil 009-1

HOW DO I LIVE – LeAnn Rimes

How do I,
Get through the night without you?
If I had to live without you,
What kind of life would that be?
Oh, I
need you in my arms, need you to hold,
You're my world, my heart, my soul,
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything good in my life,
And tell me now
How do I live without you?
I want to know,
How do I breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?
Without you,
There'd be no sun in my sky,
There would be no love in my life,
There'd be no world left for me.
And I,
Baby I don't know what I would do,
I'd be lost if I lost you,
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything real in my life,
And tell me now,
How do I live without you?
I want to know,
How do I breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?
Please tell me baby,
How do I go on?
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything,
I need you with me,
Baby don't you know that you're everything,
Good in my life?
And tell me now,
How do I live without you,
I want to know,
How do I breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?
How do I live without you?
How do I live without you baby?

Second, the true story - The three of us, Buttercup, Bubbles & me had just taken a photo posing at the bench behind with the great background. I asked someone to help take the photo, so the moment it's done I got up to take the camera from him and my Buttercup get up too to take the shopping bags we left next to him. Now Bubbles, while we're sitting at the bench, noticed this thing just beside the man taking our photo too. I didn't realized she was scared of it. You know that flowing thing they do for ad with air blowing under it to make the figure stand tall & flowing.... I thought I saw a pic somewhere but somehow I can't locate it now and I'm short of time! I hope you know what thing I'm talking about.

So there she was, standing there, crying her heart out, wanted to hug me but was too scared to come near because I was standing just next to it. So these wicked mother & sister were laughing at her and since I was holding the camera I took the shot!! But of course, I hug her soon enough & she was all ok. Heehee! But she's still afraid of that flowing thing even until now....

So there goes another glimpse of my life.... Hope you like my interpretation!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: REFLECTIONS!!Jan 4, '08 3:36 AM
for everyone

Hello dearest friends! Hope everyone is now safe and well after the recent celebrations! It's Friday afternoon and I'm in good time for my Picture Perfect! The theme for this week is REFLECTIONS. Hmm... this is another hard one for me. I have to decide among the few that I have. So here goes…

PutrajayaFlower&GardenFestival2007 042

I took this photo in August last year during the Flower & Garden Festival at Putrajaya. The people you see were actually on my left side as we're crossing a little bridge and the reflection falls on the two mirrors in the pond. I would say the reflection of the flowers on the pond would be more stunning had the water not be too murky!! Geez!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: FESTIVE!!Dec 21, '07 3:56 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends!! Hope everyone had a blessed day! I've been away from home yesterday as we're celebrating our Eid ul-Adha. Though that will have to be continued on another blog... because right now I'm running late for my Picture Perfect!! LOL! It's already Friday afternoon here!!

This week theme is 'Festive'! Initially I thought I wouldn't have any problem with this one as I've a lot of photos of our festivals. But it proved not to be  so! How can I display our festivals in one photo? Hmm... So I decided on this one!

Festival means holiday. Holiday means time for weddings!
Festive is a joyous time to be with your loved ones and it won't be perfect without FOOD! LOL! To me this photo pictures my festive. Family, love, joy, special moments, colourful & delicious traditional food! Even the imperfect background shows that everything doesn't have to be perfect for a celebration among family & friends....

So, there goes another picture from my little world!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: INTO THE NIGHT!!Dec 13, '07 11:29 AM
for everyone

Hello dear friends! Hope you had a wonderful Thursday! Mine was a resting day! After the trip the day before, I needed a good rest…. The girls, however, are still restless as ever….. So I just kept feeding them today till they’re so full & let them watched old Disney videotapes. Heehee! Well, at least that did keep them quiet for awhile……. Any bright ideas anyone?

Sharing here a photo which I took in September last year showing my two girls, Buttercup & Bubbles, as we’re leaving our favourite Bukit Jalil Park. As normal, when these girls were having fun, it’s difficult to tell them it’s time to go home even when it’s getting ‘Into The Night’!!! LOL!!

So, there goes another piece of my life….

Thank you FotoFriday for hosting!

Blog EntryPicture Perfect: OUTRAGEOUS!!Dec 6, '07 1:04 AM
for everyone
Hello dear friends! Hope this week has been good for you! And hope there's no bad storm at your place! It's been raining on & off since morning here but luckily no storm at all....

@ Lantern Carnival001

This is the first time I'm trying to do Picture Perfect. This week's theme is "Outrageous' and I thought this is outrageous enough! I took this picture during a Consumer Carnival last year. Shown here a comparison of genuine products and the fakes. There are Herbal Tea packages on the left, ‘Majakani’ in the centre are traditional herbal supplements, ‘Three Beauties’ are face powders and ‘Fab’ on the top right are detergent powder. The label ‘Tulen’ means genuine & ‘Tiruan’ means fake. I was really shocked when I saw these. Have I ever bought fakes without realizing it?! Though I'm not using any of these products, how do I know how many more fake products out there really?! It’s totally outrageous!!

By the way, please bear in mind, I took this picture through the glass showcase so there's a slight reflection.

Thanks for hosting FotoFriday!
